LAKE CHARLES -- Registration and re-certification for the Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana Lake Charles Second Harvest Food Bank will be 9 to 11 a.m. on the following dates at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church Gym on Tuesday, July 16 for last names ending in A-D; Wednesday, July 17 for last names ending in E-J; Thursday, July 18 for last names ending in K-P; and Friday, July 19 for last names ending in Q-Z.
Sacred Heart Catholic Church Gym is located just south of the corner of Mill Street and Louisiana Avenue in Lake Charles. All persons are welcome regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, disability, religion, or age.
Returning clients will need to recertify in order to receive food and new clients will receive food once they register on that day. Food will be given out once a month at Catholic Charities of SWLA located at 1225 2nd Street in Lake Charles after families register and recertify. Families may participate in only one Second Harvest Food Bank per month.
Seniors may participate monthly in both the Food for Seniors Program and participate in the Catholic Charities of SWLA Food Bank. Food will not be given out at any other time, during the month. Special thanks to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lake Charles for the use of their gym and Christ the King Catholic Church in Lake Charles for their assistance with volunteers. New and returning clients must bring the following items to certify to receive food:
- Picture ID for each adult in the household
- Social Security card for each person in the household
- Proof of one month’s income for the household: Food Stamp letter, SSI, TANF, Social Security, Child Support Letter, Retirement, Unemployment, Veterans Benefits, Payroll Checks
- Proof of residency: a utility bill or a lease and one rent receipt
