The Diocese of Lake Charles in collaboration with The Theology of the Body Institute in Pennsylvania will offer TOB-1: Head and Heart Immersion Course using an in-person format locally at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception’s Ave Maria Hall, 935 Bilbo Street.
The 30-hour course will be held 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursdays, June 8 through August 19, 2023, at a cost of $425. It will be taught via video by Christopher West, ThD, and facilitated by Becky Clements and Paula Hunter, both from the Diocese of Lake Charles.
This online course will introduce students to the key themes of the 129 Wednesday audience addresses that comprise John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. Particular attention will be paid to the imago Dei, fall and redemption, Christian ethics and ethos, freedom and person, gender, and vocation. Students will be encouraged to journey from “head to heart” in applying the theological concepts they learn to their own lives and relationships.
Those who should consider taking the course include catechists, youth ministers, lay ministers who work with RCIA or Adult Religious Education, those who wish to serve on TOB retreat teams, or anyone who wants to learn more of John Paul II’s teaching.
