Welcome to the Diocese of Lake Charles

Blessed Carlo Acutis will be the first “millennial” to be proclaimed a saint by Pope Francis at some point during the 2025 Jubilee year. Born in 1991 to Italian parents, Blessed Carlo was a web designer with great love for the Eucharist who died from an aggressive form of leukemia at the age of 15 on October 12, 2006.

St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeRidder will offer a unique opportunity to learn more about Blessed Carlo through a bilingual display October 6-15 in Kern Hall. It will feature 110 panels focusing on some of the most powerful Eucharistic miracles in the world.

“Unlike previous times the exhibit has visited the Diocese of Lake Charles, St. Joseph will highlight the Eucharistic Miracles in both English and Spanish,” said Rev. Wayne LeBleu, Pastor.

Eucharistic Miracles of the World, the international traveling exhibition designed and created by Carlo Acutis, contains an extensive assortment of photographs and historical descriptions of Eucharistic miracles, recognized by the Catholic Church, that have taken place throughout history.

The teenage computer whiz, who was beatified in 2020, is already referred to as “God's influencer” and the “patron saint of the internet.”

The free exhibit will officially open with a blessing and ribbon-cutting in Kern Hall following the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, October 6. Father LeBleu noted that a preview of the exhibit will be offered following the 9:00 a.m. Mass for those attending the First Sunday doughnut social.

On the Feast Day of Blessed Carlo Acutis — Saturday, October 12 — Eucharistic Adoration will be available in St. Joseph Catholic Church between noon and 3:00 p.m. with confessions heard from 3:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. The exhibit will be open for viewing in Kern Hall from noon until 7:30 p.m.

“What a great way for our young people to ask the question, ‘How can I become a saint?’,” said Father LeBleu in his efforts to focus on the youth in the community.
