If you are widowed, separated or divorced, the church has a truly grace filled weekend to offer you as you undergo this painful and lonely time of your life. The Beginning Experience Weekend is a weekend program to help grieving single people move from the darkness of their grief into the light of a new beginning and move into the future with renewed hope. It helps deal with the natural grief process and offers an opportunity, through God, for turning the pain of loss into an experience of positive growth. The only requirement for the BE weekend is you must have been widowed, separated or divorced for at least six months. The next weekend is scheduled for September 12-14, 2008 in Moss Bluff at the Saint Charles Retreat Center. Rev. Whitney Miller, LPC
Dec. 2, 2008
6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Death certainly touches us all and invites us into the cycles and seasons of the grieving process. December 2nd will be the first birthday of Fr. Whitney Miller’s mother, Gwindola, since her passage to new life on March 30, 2008. He would like to honor her memory on this special day by reflecting upon the mystery of grief, particularly within the liturgical context of the Advent season and also as resonated in the writings of C.S. Lewis in his book “A Grief Observed”. This time of shared prayer, poetry, song, and presentation is offered especially for anyone who has lost a loved one over the past year, or for all who are still struggling to understand and move through the experience of grief. There is no cost for the evening, but the Center will ask for a free will offering to cover expenses and benefit the Scholarship Fund for the Center. Call the Center to register at 855-1232.

The design of the program is to have a Priest and two married couples present concepts through sharing their
lives and the way they live out their Sacraments, in relationship to each other and to God. The personal sharing of the team is designed to encourage the engaged. During the structured private time for couples, the engaged will have the opportunity to write and dialogue, to explore and internalize these concepts in their marriage while providing the opportunity to develop tools and skills to enhance the marriage relationship.
