Diocese celebrates his many years  
of holy service to the Church

LAKE CHARLES — The gratitude area Catholics have for His Excellency, The Most Reverend Glen John Provost, was evident as a Mass of Thanksgiving was celebrated in his honor on Saturday, August 10, in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. 

On the Feast of St. Lawrence of Rome, Deacon and Martyr, the special liturgy was held to recognize his turning 75, as well as his many years of holy service to the Church — 49 years a priest and 17 years as the third bishop in the Diocese of Lake Charles.

LAKE CHARLES — Immaculate Conception Cathedral School and the Office of Catholic Schools are pleased to announce the selection of Mrs. Jacqueline Hebert as the 2024-2025 Principal.

Deacon Leo Anthony Hebert, 84, passed away peacefully in his residence of Ragley on July 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Leo was born September 7, 1939, to Vina Hebert and Norman Charles Hebert, but was raised by his mother and stepfather, Crankford Ortego.

Deacon Maurice Serice, a native of Sulphur, LA, passed away on August 2, 2024, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas at the age of 87. He was born October 16, 1936, to George and Lena DiGiglia Serice.

LAKE CHARLES — The 2024 Bishop’s Invitational Wiffle Ball Classic stretched into an extra inning on Saturday, August 3, with Team Seminarians holding on to their championship title. They claimed an 11-10 nail-biting victory over Team Priests as Luka Hagen, a new seminarian to the team, crossed home plate in the Immaculate Conception Cathedral School gymnasium to break the tie game.
