The Office of Catholic Schools has issued the following statement regarding the wearing of masks for students and staff:
The announcement by Governor John Bel Edwards on October 26, 2021, and the decline of infection rates of COVID-19, has led to the decision that masks will be optional for students and staff at all Catholic schools in the Diocese of Lake Charles, effective Wednesday, October 27, 2021.
In consultation with the Office of Catholic Schools and school administrators, all schools will continue to follow CDC guidelines for quarantine and isolation in the event of COVID-19 exposure. We will continue to use hand sanitizers and safety protocols to protect our community. Throughout the remainder of the school year, we will communicate with our health partners in an ongoing review of our policies and procedures. School principals will communicate any specific guidelines for their school sites in the next few days.
We thank you for your support of Catholic education and appreciate your flexibility through this pandemic.
