Catholic schools in the Diocese of Lake Charles will begin the 2025-2026 school year with the return of students at the five schools located in Calcasieu Parish on Tuesday, August 12. In Jefferson Davis Parish, students in Grades 1-8 at Our Lady Immaculate Catholic School will return on Thursday, August 7; and PK3, PK4, and Kindergarten students at OLI will return on Wednesday, August 13. All starting dates were provided by the Office of Catholic Schools, according to Kimberlee Gazzolo, Superintendent.
Calcasieu Parish schools include St. Louis Catholic High School, Immaculate Conception Cathedral School, St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic School, and Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic School, all in Lake Charles, and Our Lady’s Catholic School in Sulphur. Our Lady Immaculate Catholic School is in Jennings.
The final day for the 2025-2026 school year in Calcasieu Parish will be Friday, May 22, 2026, while OLI will end the school term on May 19, 2026.
Holidays during the school year — days the students are not in attendance – include:
- Labor Day, Monday, September 1
- Fall Break (OLI), Thursday and Friday, October 2-3
- Fall Break (Calcasieu schools), Monday and Tuesday, October 13-14
- Thanksgiving, Monday, November 24 to Friday, November 28
- Christmas, Monday, December 22, 2025, to Friday, January 2, 2026
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday, January 19
- Mardi Gras — Monday, February 16 to Friday, February 20
- Easter Break, Friday, April 3 to Friday, April 10
