CAMERON – Bishop Glen John Provost celebrated a Votive Mass to Avert Storms on Wednesday, June 3, in the Historic Shrine of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. This annual liturgy comes at the beginning of Hurricane Season, which opened on Monday, June 1.

LAKE CHARLES – Two very special individuals, Debbie Warshaw and Annie Hachtel, were honored as individuals who gave of themselves for the betterment of those in need at the annual Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana Jazz Brunch, held at the Lake Charles Country Club.

LAKE CHARLES -- The Catholic Extension Society has offered a challenge to raise seminary funding to the Diocese of Lake Charles.  For every donation of $1,000 or more to the Seminary Burse Endowment, Catholic Extension will match the offering with 50 cents on every $1.00 given.  By raising $50,000 by December 31, 2015, we will receive $25,000 in matching funds.

WASHINGTON - The 2015 class of men ordained to the priesthood report that they were, on average, about 17 when they first considered a vocation to the priesthood and encouraged to consider a vocation by an average of four people.

LAKE CHARLES – The devastation from the 7.8 maginitude earthquake that struck Nepal last Saturday, May 25, has been great. Nearly 5,000 people lost their lives with many villages and communities in the mountainous country destroyed.
