Helping students grow in spirit, mind and body is what Catholic education is all about. Schools in the Diocese of Lake Charles will have the opportunity to celebrate this during the 50th year of National Catholic Schools Week scheduled January 28 – February 3. The theme is “United in Faith and Community.”
His Excellency, Bishop Glen John Provost shares the following message upon learning of the unexpected passing of His Excellency, Bishop Mario Dorsonville on the evening of Friday, January 19, 2024:
“I have just learned that Bishop Mario Dorsonville of Houma-Thibodaux passed away suddenly. During his brief tenure in that diocese, I had grown to respect him and appreciated very much the opportunity to share the episcopal ministry with him in the Province. I extend my deepest condolences to the clergy and faithful of Houma-Thibodaux and assure them of not only my prayers but also those of the Diocese of Lake Charles."

Taking a hot shower, brushing teeth, and having clean clothes are just a few things that many take for granted without even realizing it. Many others who consider it a luxury, can now turn to Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana. No questions asked.
Bishop Glen John Provost blessed a new mobile laundry/shower trailer on January 3 in the parking lot of the Chancery, along with a truck and van used in helping provide essential resources to many in the community.
