Bishop Glen John Provost celebrated the Mass of Chrism with the priests of the Diocese on Wednesday, March 27, in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. At this Mass, customarily in Holy Week, the Bishop blessed the holy oils to be used throughout the year for sacramental celebrations in the Diocese of Lake Charles.  He addressed his homily to the priests and offered the following reflection:

LAKE CHARLES — The 2024 Religious Emblems Recognition Brunch was held Saturday, March 23, in the Ave Maria Hall across from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. The awards presentation, hosted by the Catholic Committee on Scouting in the Diocese of Lake Charles, recognizes worthy scouts who completed the National Catholic Committee on Scouting requirements to earn a religious emblem.

LAKE CHARLES — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has obligated $32,204,013.10 to build a new campus for St. Louis Catholic High School in south Lake Charles. The announcement of federal assistance was made by U.S. Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) in a press release on Monday, March 18, 2024. 

A Louisiana Experience Like No Other

LAKE CHARLES — Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic School “rolled down” the Mississippi River during its week-long symposium held March 11-15. Complete with a Cajun band, Gumbeaux Gator, and ribbon-cutting to kick things off in the school parking lot, “Louisiana: Rolling Down the River” was open for viewing in the gymnasium to the surprise and enthusiasm of students in grades pre-K through grade 8.

MOSS BLUFF — Just when Deacon George Stearns had his professional life all mapped out, a phone call in 1972 began a chain of events rerouting him from Lubbock, Texas, to Lafayette, and eventually as long-time chancellor for the Diocese of Lake Charles. 

“You never know how life is going to unfold,” Stearns told a room full of clergy and staff in The Lodge of Camp Karol for his farewell luncheon on Thursday, March 7, 2024.
