LAKE CHARLES — Bishop Glen John Provost was ordained a priest by His Holiness Pope Paul VI on June 29 during the Jubilee Year of 1975. Fifty years later, he celebrates his golden jubilee to the priesthood during the Jubilee Year of 2025. His ordination took place at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. 

WASHINGTON – Pope Leo XIV has appointed Reverend Simon Peter Engurait, a priest of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux and current diocesan administrator, as the Bishop of Houma-Thibodaux.

In the spirit of Christian hope, we announce the death of Reverend Monsignor Charles Dubois, a priest for sixty years, at the age of 85. He died Monday, June 23, 2025, at Harbor Hospice.

CAMERON PARISH — It has been nearly 70 years since Hurricane Audrey roared ashore in the early morning hours of June 27, 1957, along the coastline of Southwest Louisiana. There are many still alive who will never forget the destruction and loss of life, nor that of catastrophic storms in recent memory.

In a memo addressed to Clergy of the Diocese of Lake Charles on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, Bishop Glen John Provost announced the appointment of Father Ruben Villarreal to the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in the Holy See. The memo reads:

The Most Reverend Glen John Provost, Bishop of Lake Charles, hereby announces the pastoral assignments for the year Two Thousand and Twenty-Five for the Diocese of Lake Charles, Louisiana.

Two seminarians for the Diocese of Lake Charles received their call to candidacy on June 11, 2025, the Feast of St. Barnabas, Apostle. Bishop Glen John Provost accepted Cameron Fontenot and Michael DesOrmeaux to Candidacy for Holy Orders during the 12:05 p.m. Mass in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

It was a rare occurrence, but on Thursday, May 29, 2025, Morris LeBleu, longtime Director of Communications for the Diocese of Lake Charles, was seen at an event without his camera. This time, the focus was on him while being honored during his retirement luncheon following 38 dedicated years.
