Welcome to the Diocese of Lake Charles

His Excellency, Bishop Glen John Provost, invites the faithful to the Closing Celebration Mass for the Jubilee Year of Hope at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, December 28, in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 935 Bilbo Street. As we conclude this holy year locally in the Diocese of Lake Charles, let us gather in thanksgiving and prayer as we commend the fruits of this sacred year to the Lord and renew our call to walk as Pilgrims of Hope in our communities. The Jubilee Year of Hope will officially conclude on January 6, 2026, when the Holy Door of St. Peter's Basilica is closed.

Ember Days are observed four times a year, namely, the Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday that follow the First Sunday of Lent, the Feast of Pentecost, the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (September 14), and the Memorial of Saint Lucy (December 13). This year, Wednesday, December 17; Friday, December 19; and Saturday, December 20, are observed as Ember Days, inviting us to pause, pray, and offer smalls acts of penance as we ask God’s blessing in the change of seasons.

LAKE CHARLES — Almost 23 years to the day that Christ the King Catholic Church was established as a church parish (November 24, 2002), parishioners of the “little church by the airport” gathered to break ground on a new beginning. On November 22, the eve of the church’s patronal feast, the Solemnity of Christ the King, parishioners looked to the future in this Jubilee Year of Hope.
