Every year, the Diocese of Lake Charles reviews and analyzes the property liability insurance for every school, parish, building and department within its five-parish territory.  All structures and entities are combined for insurance coverage for economies of scale, bigger discounts and spreading of risk.

LAKE CHARLES — Based on the analysis of data collection results of the 2019/2020 Charter audit period of the Diocese of Lake Charles, the diocese has been found to be in compliance with the requirements for the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, approved by the U.S. bishops in 2002.

Makeup of current parish deanery groupings is changed.

SULPHUR - A devoted servant to God, husband, father, grandfather, godfather and friend to all who had the pleasure of making his acquaintance, Deacon James “Chris” Gregory, 66, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021.

LAKE CHARLES — The connection St. Francis de Sales has to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception dates all the way back to 1858 as the first Catholic church in Lake Charles — first as a mission, then later as a parish in 1869. Now, more than 160 years later, a statue serves as a visible reminder of that connection as the church’s first patron saint.

LAKE CHARLES — In celebration of National Catholic Schools Week, held Jan. 31-Feb. 6, Bishop Glen John Provost celebrated two special Masses in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
