Praying together as husband and wife can be hard. Some might even say it is awkward. Even married couples who are comfortable sharing their joys and sorrows with God together will admit it can be a challenge unless you are both willing to make it a priority.

Christmas is a Divine paradox. Someone so small and so humbly born came to achieve something so great, the Redemption of the world.   “A child is born to us, a Son is given to us.”   Often in the face of God’s perfection we are struck by the unimportance of our lives.   And yet we are redeemed by God who empties Himself out as a baby, lying in a manger, born of a humble Virgin.   We are not worthy of so great a gift, but we are never too small or that insignificant to be loved by God.  He shows us that love at Christmas.   May the birth of the Savior ignite our faith.   Come, let us adore Him.   The Catholic faithful join me, Bishop Provost, in offering you our heartfelt prayers for a Blessed Christmas.

St. Francis de Sales lived his life doing seemingly ordinary things in extraordinary ways. This was the means of his sainthood.

In this very same spirit, the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest will establish St. Francis de Sales Oratory in the Diocese of Lake Charles.

According to standard practice, all bishops of the Catholic Church are required to visit the Holy See and submit a report on the work of the Church in their respective dioceses.    Because of the transition between the Pontificates of Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis, the ad limina visit for the bishops of the United States was delayed to seven years.    Hence, from the beginning of November 2019 thru February of 2020, all bishops in our nation will be visiting the Holy Father, the tombs of the Apostles, and the offices of the Vatican which oversee the work of the Church throughout the world.

His Excellency, the Most Reverend Glen John Provost announces that the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest will serve in the Diocese of Lake Charles beginning in January 2020.  Further, Bishop Provost announces that the Institute will reopen the historic Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church (the current City Court of Sulphur) under the Patronage of Saint Francis de Sales once the structure is restored and made suitable for the Divine Liturgy and Sacramental Celebrations.

Church Began in 1869 Under Patronage of St. Francis de Sales
