Father Egidio A. Vecchio, M.S., 90, a member of the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette, died May 25, 2017, at St. Dominic Village Nursing Home in Houston, Texas.
LAKE CHARLES – Changes will be introduced to some of the communications vehicles of the Diocese of Lake Charles beginning in July in an attempt to be more in touch with more of today’s media savvy Catholics.

LAKE CHARLES – Reverend Monsignor Daniel A. Torres, Vicar General of the Diocese of Lake Charles, was the featured speaker of the 2017 commencement ceremonies of St. Louis Catholic High School at which 159 seniors of the school graduated May 16 in Burton Coliseum. Of those seniors, 59 were honors graduates, the highest in the school’s history.
LAKE CHARLES -- Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) recently announced the award of a long-term disaster recovery grant of $137,500to Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana. The grant was made possible due to the generosity of individuals and families from local parishes across the country who contributed to the second collection offered by The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB).

The National Shrine of St. Katharine Drexel in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, which houses the remains and relics of the saint who founded the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in 1891, will permanently close on Dec. 31, Sister Donna Breslin, president of the community, announced recently.
