The Diocese of Lake Charles issued a statement on Tuesday, May 3, in response to a Politico report that a leaked draft opinion, written by Justice Samuel Alito, suggests the U.S. Supreme Court will overturn Roe v. Wade — the 1973 landmark case that legalized abortion nationwide. The following statement, with approval from Bishop Provost, reads:

Bishop Glen John Provost celebrated his 15th Anniversary of being the Bishop of the Diocese of Lake Charles on April 23, 2022! He was consecrated to the Episcopacy and installed as the third Bishop of Lake Charles on Monday, April 23, 2007. When a grandmother celebrates her 90^th birthday or a couple observes their 50^th wedding anniversary, there is rarely just one celebration.   Family dinners are prepared, friends host parties, and visits are planned to the honorees.  The moment is too grand, the accomplishment too significant, the affection too deep to be contained in just one moment.   So, also, the Church celebrates Easter.
