LAKE CHARLES – On Tuesday December 18, 2018, Bishop Glen John Provost, D.D., M.A., announced the appointment of Deacon Brian Kirk as Chief Finance Officer (CFO) for the Diocese of Lake Charles. The appointment is effective January 1, 2019 and is for a period of five years.
LAKE CHARLES -- Bishop Glen John Provost has appointed Deacon Brian J. Soileau as Assistant to the Vicar for Clergy, effective Monday, December 17, 2018.

LAKE CHARLES -- Wylace Vincent Jr., a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Kinder, was named the “Distinguished Catholic of the Year” by St. Peter Claver Court and Council #168 of St. Henry Catholic Church at the 2018 Sapphire and Ice Gala fundraiser. Bishop Glen John Provost was present and greeted the evening’s guest speaker, Bishop Shelton Fabre of the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux.

My Dear People of God,
In Southwest Louisiana we are not strangers to dangerous situations. We have faced hurricanes and the catastrophes they bring with perseverance and courage. Should we not face accompanying challenges in the Church with the same determination? With God's help we certainly can.
A statement from Bishop Glen John Provost:
The news of Saturday’s attack at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is shocking and distressing. What was intended to be a celebration of faith and new life devolved into terror and violence. We again denounce all forms of racial prejudice and violence. The menace of Anti-Semitism must be rooted out in all of its forms.
We stand in solidarity with our Jewish brothers and sisters as we commend to Our Heavenly Father the lives of the eleven people killed in the attack. We pray, too, for the first responders and all those who rendered aid. May God be with them and their families in their sorrow.
LAKE CHARLES — Deacon Glenn Christopher Viau, 64, of Westlake, LA, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 28, 2018.

LAKE CHARLES – One of the major goals in the Return to the Lord Capital Campaign of the Diocese of Lake Charles was to enhance the Priest Retirement Fund.
LAKE CHARLES -- Earlier in November, the Diocese of Lake Charles was audited for its compliance with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People. Bishop Glen John Provost has announced “that this most favorable audit report from Stonebridge states that the Diocese of Lake Charles is in compliance with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People and is a further testimony to our continuing efforts to insure the safety of our children and youth.”
OBERLIN – An effort that began more than two years ago, an effort to bring the Saint Maximilian Kolbe Prison Ministry to the Diocese of Lake Charles, bore fruit recently with the first retreat for 65 men incarcerated at the Allen Parish Correctional Center.
