I, The Most Reverend Glen John Provost, Bishop of Lake Charles, hereby announce the pastoral assignments for the Year Two thousand and Fifteen for the Diocese of Lake Charles, Louisiana:

In my sixth cycle of parish visitations (September 2014 through March 2015), I had the pleasure of joining parishioners at Our Lady of LaSalette in DeQuincy, St. Lawrence in Raymond, St. Raphael in Iowa and Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Sulphur.  The visit offered us the opportunity to get to know each other, hear of their concerns, learn of the many good things going on in the parishes, answer questions, and acquaint them with the ministries of the Diocese.

LAKE CHARLES – The devastation from the 7.8 maginitude earthquake that struck Nepal last Saturday, May 25, has been great. Nearly 5,000 people lost their lives with many villages and communities in the mountainous country destroyed.

The Office of Family Life has during the last six weeks conducted a broad consultation in the Diocese of Lake Charles among faithful and clergy in preparation for the upcoming XIV Ordinary Synod of Bishops, with the theme, “The Vocation and Mission of the Family in the Church and Contemporary World".

LAKE CHARLES – With his Wednesday, April 22, trip to the Immaculate Conception Cathedral Catholic School, Bishop Glen John Provost has completed his annual set of visitations to each of the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Lake Charles.

LAKE CHARLES – The bishops of the United States have been requested by the Holy See to provide a broad consultation of the clergy and faithful for the upcoming XIV Ordinary Synod of Bishops, next October in Rome, with the theme, “The Vocation and Mission of the Family in the Church and Contemporary World.”

LAKE CHARLES – The Most Reverend Glen John Provost, M.A., D.D., Bishop of Lake Charles, has announced the bestowal of Papal honors to nine members of the laity of the Diocese of Lake Charles by the Holy See. The Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Carlos Maria Viganò, notified the Bishop on Monday, March 30.

LAKE CHARLES – Once again this year, the Diocese of Lake Charles will conduct a Vocation Drawing Contest for all students grades two through 12 in preparation for World Day of Prayer for Vocations, set for April 26.

LAKE CHARLES – School calendars for the 2015-2016 academic year have been released by the Office of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Lake Charles, according to Kimberlee Gazzolo, superintendent.
