LAKE CHARLES – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Rev. Frederick F. “Fred” Russi, 78, a retired priest of the Diocese of Lake Charles, in Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 30. Father Russi, a native of Lafayette, died on Thursday, May 23, 2019.
LAKE CHARLES – Bishop Glen John Provost was aided by Rev. Trey Ange, Chaplain of the Catholic Committee on Scouting of the Diocese of Lake Charles, in presenting religious emblems to worthy scouts at the annual Bishop’s Brunch Saturday, April 6.
LAKE CHARLES – Work continues on many and varied areas of the restoration of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception with artists from Conrad Schmitt Studios and stained glass specialists from Emil Frei & Associates doing beautiful work to bring the Cathedral back to a glory not seen in many years.

LAKE CHARLES – The Catholic schools of the Diocese of Lake Charles will begin the 2019-2020 school year with the return of students to classes on Friday, August 9, at Our Lady Immaculate Catholic School in Jennings and on Monday, August 12, at the six schools located in Calcasieu Parish, according to calendars for the 2019-2020 school term released by the Office of Catholic Schools.
On Thursday, April 11, Bishop Glen John Provost released a list of 12 clerics that have been credibly accused of of sexual misconduct with a minor in the Diocese of Lake Charles since its establishment in 1980.
LAKE CHARLES – Bishop Glen John Provost celebrated the 2019 Heritage Day Mass in the Convent Chapel of Christus St. Patrick Hospital on Friday, March 15, the Friday of the First Week of Lent. Father Brian King, Pastoral Care Director for the hospital, and Father Charles Okorougo, hospital chaplain, concelebrated.
